Recently I have fallen in love with YourVersion. The service is nothing more than a news “aggregator” that allows YOU to define the content it displays. All the rage for the last few months have been apps like Flipboard and Pulse. RSS readers with amazingly beautiful front ends that read feeds defined by you. Where these Apps fall short are that the only content they display are what feeds you enter. You place the ifficiency.com/feed and a stream of all recent posts come flooding in for you to enjoy. YourVersion however works on a topic basis. You type in “iPhone” or “iPad” and all articles relating to the topic from across the web come flooding in as channels. Not only blog feeds, but articles, Twitter related mentions etc.
As a user, you now vote the article up or down depending on it’s quality and the sites backend keeps track of not only the article but the article providers site ranking. If a site continually puts out good content on a certain topic it is displayed at a higher ranking than an unknown provider. This makes sure at the top of your “interest” is the most relevant content from the most reliable sources.
YourVersion has recently released a FREE iPhone and iPad app. The content is separated by topics that YOU define and just like Pandora will allow you to be exposed to content you would not otherwise discover.
Let me know what you think?
